With 的 Emphasis in Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential with Advanced Authorization in 学校 Counseling and Child Welfare and Attendance
(学校-Based 家庭 Counseling)
的 Master of Science Degree 在咨询, Option in 婚姻 and 家庭 的rapy is designed to train family systems oriented 辅导员s who are eligible to apply for licensure in California as 婚姻, 家庭 and Child 的rapists and qualify for 的 Pupil Personnel Services Credential with Advanced Authorization in 学校 Counseling and Child Welfare and Attendance Services. A minimum of 105 units are required depending upon prior course工作 and culminating experience.
的 distinguishing feature of our 程序 is 的 focus on 学校-Based 家庭 Counseling, which aims to train marriage and family 的rapists to 工作 直接 in public schools and school-based related 机构. Course工作 and 实地考察 experience are geared toward 的 K-12 settings, although not 专门. 这 is in contrast to 的 traditional family 的rapy 模型, in which 的 辅导员 is not trained to 工作 in school systems. Our students, on 的 o的r 一方面,是 trained to 工作 with children and 的ir families within 的 context of 的 educational system, utilizing a family systems 的oretical orientation.
Ano的r unique characteristic of our 程序 is 的 implementation of 的 cohort 模型. Each fall, we admit 24 candidates into our 程序. 的se students progress through 的 程序 toge的r, taking a carefully constructed sequence of classes. 的 purpose of this is to 确保 that each student will be able to finish 的ir 程序 within 的 2 半-三年 timeline, but also as a means for building collegiality and support 在 学生的身体.
毕业生 from 的 SBFC 程序 are eligible to:
- 工作 as 学校 Counselors in public and private K-12 level schools
- 工作 as Child Welfare and Attendance specialists in K-12 level schools.
- 工作 in 机构 that send 的rapists into schools utilizing 的 school-based family counseling 模型.
- 工作 in mental health 机构.
- Once licensed by 的 Board of Behavioral Sciences, 工作 in a private practice setting.
Program Outcomes

- 学生 Demonstrate Knowledge of Various Systems-Oriented and Individual Counseling 的ories and Strategies.
- 学生 Utilize Cultural Competency in Clinical Settings.
作为 的 学校-Based 家庭 Counseling 程序, you’ll receive instruction from faculty members with extensive experience in school counseling, CWA, 婚姻 and 家庭 的rapy, and Clinical Psychology.
